The power of self-love

Thank you for visiting my site all about my radical new approach to weight loss.

I believe that to create any big change in your life, first you need to accept yourself and show yourself love. With self love on your side you can achieve anything - even weight loss.

I am so grateful you’re here reading this page - a page that a few years ago, simply wasn’t possible.

This, after all, is a website about self love. It’s my website about self love.  What’s remarkable here, is that a few years ago, I not only didn’t have a website or a book all about self love, but I also didn’t love myself.
Very much at all.

My story is typical

A few years ago I was officially obese and heading for morbid obesity. I looked nothing like I look now and to say I was miserable in my own skin would be an enormous understatement.  My story is typical: in my twenties and thirties, I gained weight gradually and reluctantly, with life’s setbacks causing me to feel less and less excited about being me. I fell out of love with myself and was stuck in a rut and feeling a nagging sense of regret as I woke up each day.

The weight led to unhappiness, the unhappiness led to more weight gain. And so the cycle continued.

Like many people, I’d β€˜try’ to lose weight, but my half-hearted attempts never really led to much. How was I going to get out of this situation? How was it going to be different this time?

A Catalyst for Change

My life changed overnight when I had my daughter; I felt a greater sense of responsibility (as so many new mums do). So, when she was a few weeks old and I realised that I was not β€˜just pregnant’ but by now massively overweight and a UK size 20, I made a decision.

I was going to get back to a healthy weight, keep the weight off and stop living with the regret. I was going to treat myself right this time.

Over time I lost the weight. It took over a year but less than two and I finally reached my ultimate goal weight and a healthy BMI of under 25 . I had lost 86 pounds (that’s over 6 stones). I ate differently and I moved my body more but I wasn’t following a difficult diet or exercise regime. I was just putting myself first. I was putting self-love first.

Treating myself right

This sense of wanting to treat myself right developed into a sense of self-like and appreciation. I read all about self-esteem, self-care and self-love. I practised writing and saying affirmations and used all sorts of tactics I’d previously have thought of as bonkers to help me. Well, those bonkers things I did, like telling myself I loved myself every day, like learning to love my body however lumpy, bumpy and saggy it is, like always taking time for some gentle exercise, and learning to eat consciously - all started to work.

I want to help you
do the same

I wrote my book over the course of the pandemic because I realised that mine was a radical way to lose weight and I wanted to help other people use this new approach. After all, starting with self-love made weight loss super easy and enjoyable.  If you’re struggling with weight and feeling a lack of love for yourself, this could be the approach you’ve been looking for.
